Rico & Plato (PT Indofrance Abadi) has received SVLK certification since 2019.
SVLK ‘Timber Legality Assurance System’ (FLEGT) ensures our customers that all timbers that are used in our factory are all coming from legal and responsible sources.
In 2003, Indonesia started to develop an operator-based timber control system for all its timber exports, building on a mandatory third-party certification approach for legality and sustainability. The system, called SVLK, became the basis for the timber legality assurance system under Indonesia’s Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) with the EU. The VPA covers all exports, and its coverage will expand to include the domestic market on a stepwise basis.
On 15 November 2016, Indonesia began issuing FLEGT licenses to verified legal timber products exported to the EU.
SVLK certification not only ensures that only legal timber is exported from Indonesia, but effectively manages sustainable forestry practices while reducing illegal logging and trading. The Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, through its state-owned enterprise Perum Perhutani, manages its teak forest plantations with agroforestry, ensuring biodiversity and providing additional economic benefits to the local economy. SVLK certification is required by law for Indonesian timber to be exported into many major wood product import countries.
With Rico & Plato Teak's SVLK certified teak, you can be assured that the products you purchase is an artfully crafted product, from legally and sustainably harvested wood.
